I just started on Met XR 750mg/once daily. My BMI is 21 and I am not IR. From reading different posts all over the message board it seems like most people are on 1000-2000mg. My Doc wants to see me in 6 weeks to see how the Met is going. I was just wondering what your starting doses and ultimate dose was for you as a 'thin cyster'. Any feedback would be great!

I am a thin cyster as well. I take 1500mg daily, and I am on also, 21 bmi, with no IR.
I have been on Met since March 26th and Vitex since Feb. I did ovulate with Vitex prior to met. I am now on Met and FertilAid.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck.

I'm a 'thin cyster' and my doc prescribed 1500mg Met daily (starting at 500mg and then adding another 500 more each week). I haven't started taking it yet but will next month. Good luck to u.
I just noticed u said ur on the Metformin and the FertilAid. I am taking FertilAid too and I noticed on the bottle it says not to combine it with any fertility drugs. I don't know if u checked with your doctor already to make sure it's okay to take them together...but I just wanted to mention it to u...
Met is not a "Fertility Drug". I would not take it with Clomid or soy or anything. I have read of other girls of Met and FertilAid. I did not check with my doctor. Just after seeing other girls I figured it was ok. I am going to start a thread and ask other girls. JUST TO BE SAFE. Thanks for the tip, I would rather be safe then sorry. I only have till September to get pregnant. He leaves for deployment. Otherwisw I will have to wait ANOTHER 6 months.

hey Tami....oh okay...good to know...just wanted u to be safe but it sounds like u have it under control good luck...hope u get your BFP before your sweety is deployed!
Tatatami - hub and I are in the same position: he just redeployed after 15 months, then we concieved really quickly, then lost the baby @ 8 weeks. We're almost to our mid-30s, so he's seriously considering ending his career at 12 years just to make sure we can keep TTC. I feel guilty about it, but you got to do what you got to do.
We are in Germany--the German OB GYN was great but didn't beleive PCOS raised incidents of miscarriage. HA! She did identify that my uterus is also "bicornuate", which is rare and makes things even trickier. I tried to get on Metformin, but Army doc referred me out, then we found out I was pregnant. I'm looking for an RE here who knows what's up.
Hi Nina-- I am a thin cyster, non IR and have been on 2000 mg/day of Glucophage for about 4 months now. My doctor preferred the brand but our new insurance doesnt cover it so now, so when I went for my appt today he switched me to Met XR 750 mg/ THREE times a day. Honestly, I am a little nervous about the increase in dose, but my periods suddenly stopped coming last month, so I think that is why he increased it. Maybe your doctor wants to see if the lower dose will work for you first and to make sure you will tolerate it. When I started Met, my doctor increased my daily dose every two weeks until I reached 2000mg/day and I have been tolerating it fine. How are you doing with the Met so far???
Hi ALMATEA, It sucks doesn't it. I am so sorry for you loss... I understand that you want to wait any longer, But he is so close to retirement and the benefits are great, not to mention he will get additional paychecks after he gets out. Can you get an RE to help first before he trys to get out?

Hi KT, the Met. is going fine so far. I have only taken it for about a week and a half. I had a twinge of nausea the first few days but after that I have felt great. I'm a little frustrated that my doc wants me to wait another month before increasing my dose but at least I know I'll be going up to the 1500 mg eventually. Just feels like all of this fertility stuff has been going so slooooowwww! How is the newest dose treating you?

Hey, I personally am on 500mg Met and my Endo does not want me to increase unless my symptoms either reappear or get worse. Maybe it just all depends on your body. My BMI is 18.

Hi Nina--- I agree...this fertility stuff is going soooo slow for me too, but I am alittle on the impatient side about things anyway!! I am going to finish my regular glucophage perscription before I fill the Met XR and increase the dose. I had the nausea in the beginning too and still do sometimes. I am just glad that was my only side effect so far! Hopefully your month will go by fast and you can increase your dose, or you never know...you may not even need too!!
My BMI is 22.7 although I'm working to lose a few pounds. My glucouse levels came back fine, but when I suggested Met, my Dr. agreed to it without hesitation. I feel like I may be IR because I'm constantly tired & can't lose weight no matter how hard I try. I just started Metformin this week @ 500mg. Increasing to 1000mg next week, then 1500mg. Today, I actually haven't been as tired as normal, so I'm hoping it's working!

I'm taking 1500mg Met also and just purchased FertilAid, was wondering is it safe to combine the two. Know Met is not a Fertility Drug, so I didn't think anything of it.
Thanks
Maria
