Default Met & Dry Skin/Scalp

I started met a little over a week ago. And I started off right away with 500mg 3x a day. A few days after I noticed my skin and scalp have been getting extremely dry. My eczema on my hands is acting up like crazy and I can't put enough lotions on to counterbalance. And my scalp is dry and peeling/dandruffy now when it never was before.

Is this all in my head or have any of you had met cause day skin & dry scalp?

Met has definitely caused my skin and hair to dry out. I wish I had a solution... Maybe some of the other cysters can recommend something.

Were either of you having problems with oily hair/scalp/skin before starting met?

With Met, my elbows and ankles were literally scabbing over. I recently switched to Johnson's Softwash 24 Hour Body Wash last week, and I'm already noticing a difference. I found it at the local Walmart in the Spa and Lotion aisle, not near the regular body washes. Plus I use a body brush afterwards.

For my hair, I've been using Nexxus Humectress Conditioner. After washing my hair, I rub it in and leave it over night, then rinse my hair in the morning. I've been doing that for a little over a year now, and haven't had any more problems with the dry scalp.

*Fingers crossed that the Johnson's will eventually have my elbows and ankles normal again.

Oily hair yes. I have always had skin problems. I have eczema on my hands, but it has never gotten this bad before. Although my face is way less oily which means I am breaking out less.

I am practically bathing my hands & elbows in Burt's Bee's products every hour. They are just way way dryer then they use to be.

Not stupid at all, because I may have the name of it wrong. They are sold by the sponges and loufas. Mine has a wooden handle, and the brushy part is almost as big as my hand and made out of camel hair. Putting a little soap on it and scrubbing really helps on dry, itchy skin days. And dh begs me to scrub his back with it everytime he's in the shower or bath.

Oh I have seen those! *duh* Maybe I will try one. You can't be afflicted with dry skin and live in southern California. The weather will just mess you up.

Thanks!

I have EXTREMELY dry skin on my face. I get these dry scaly patches and for a while I thought it was Rosacea but it started after I was on Met. I take 500 3x/day. I also have dandruff but I have had that since I was a kid.I did not realize they were related.
Also, as a teen I had very oily skin. I just try to keep it clean and moisterized but sometimes I feel like I am fighting a losing battle.

It was one of the best investments I made. Make sure to look for one with the camel hair.
