Points: 4,554.77 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,554.77 | met during surgery? I just found out I need knee surgery (planned for Fall). I've got a cyst in my knee...I hate this. I get cysts everywhere!!!!
I assume the docs will tell me about this, but I get faster, more honest, answers here. Can you keep taking Met during surgery or do you go off it for awhile? This should be a quick two day procedure, so how long do I go off the met, if necessary. When I go off Met, even for a pill or two, I always have stomach problems when I start up again...so need to know what to expect.
thanks.

As far as when to start up again, I think it should be started again once you start eating your regular diet. I took a dose 12 hours post-op and really paid for it. The hospital had me on a liquid diet, which of course is totally gross, so I basically took my dose on an empty stomach. I was up all night with severe cramping that even my morphine pump wasn't helping. Breakfast and lunch in the hospital weren't any better, so I refused to take the Met. I started up the next day (2 days post op), once I had a couple of regular meals in my stomach and had no probs with the cramping again.
