Default Met ER????

Can anyone tell me anything about Met ER? I am assuming this is the extended release so it should be better on the tummy issues! I did Met once before and it almost killed me. Extreme diarrhea!!! TMI, sorry. I am ready to try it again but I keep reading about ER. Will this help??

I just started taking the ER version of Met. It is time released, so easier on your system. I take 1000mg every morning and no issues so far. With the regular Met, I had horrid heartburn/reflux, explosive diarreah and dizziness. Good luck to you.

I also had severe issues with regular Met - I threw up multiple times a day if I went past 500mg. I have just started the Met XR at 500mg and am going to be moving up to 1000mg in another few days. I'll let you know if it works better for me. I have high hopes because of 2 things. The first is that it is not a generic pill and so there are less fillers and other junk in it. According to my doctor, that is usually what causes the GI issues in people, not necessarily the medicine itself. The second is that it is a time release and so it is designed to spread itself out throughout the day. I was breaking my old pills in half to try and avoid the s/e and it never worked because I still got the same punch.
On another note, my doctor prescribed me Glumetza, which is another one to try. I went with the XR first because the Glumetza was super expensive - it's new I think and so there is no generic.
We'll see!

I'm on 1500 ER, and I still have diarrhea everyday. I've been on it for like, a year. Just make sure that you go to the bathroom every morning, hahaha. First thing in the morning.

My gyn is putting me on Metformin SR. I think he said this stands for Slow Release, so I think it's called a few things isn't it? lol How they try to confuse us.

I am on Met ER 1500mg and would kill for some productive toilet time. It's done just the opposite for me!

I think it effects everyone differently, but years ago I took the regular kind, and it really DID have me tore up most of the time. I like the ER much, much better.

I find that I don't have bottom issues either, but we'll have to see about my nausea issues. With my low carb diet, I also wouldn't mind some quality bathroom time!
