Default Met ER question

I started out taking met (not ER) last year around the middle of the year and had not had periods in years without a provera pill (only took it the one time somtime in 2007) after 4 months on the met I got a period and 40 days after that I got another and then continued the met for another 3 months and no more periods at that time i was taking 1500 mgs. and then because we got placement of a toddler (were adopting) we have to keep medication locked up and im very VERY forgetful so without the pill in plain sight i kept missing pills and quit... about 2 months later i went back to my dr and asked for the ER (extended relese) and he agreed so I take 2 750mg pills at night... I have been taking it now for 6 months and no period. now my question is has any one ever heard about the ER being less effective? also this may be TMI but it looks like I pass the pills and actually see the pill when i go to the bathroom... since the pill is chalky and not a gel capsule is it maybe not even working? I really want this stuff to work so eventually I can get pregnant but I feel like I'm wasting my time! is there any other treatment besides the metformin? i would take shots or whatever I just want something to work.

ER didn't work well at all for me. Actually didn't work period. I ended up gaining all of my weight back and had all of my symptoms come back as well. I was on those 750mg pills and was passing a good number of them whole as well. About a month ago I had my doctor increase me to 1000mg 2x a day of the regular met. It only took a couple of weeks and I've seen huge improvement. The depression has lifted, I'm not gaining weight, and I just feel sooooo much better. If you can tolerate it I would absolutely suggest switching. The ER doesn't work.
