Default Met feels like morning sickness....

Oh my, since I've upped my dose to 1500mg I have just been sick all day and all night. I actually tossed my cookies a couple times after just eating a cup of popcorn. So the other day my mom was like..."Are you pregnant?" and I looked at her and said "Ma, you have to have sex to get pregnant."
I mean, when you and hubby are living with your 'rents, it kinda puts a damper on yer sex life. But the sickness was JUST like the morning sickness I had with my daughter, so I held my breath and took a PT.
BFN!!!
I mean, yes I want more kids, but not now!!!
So instead of taking down a dose, because I'm damn stubborn, I'm just going to deal with S/E. I mean I managed to get through it with Kittie, so I guess I can get through it now.

if your not trying to get pregnant? why are you taking met? i thought you could also take birth control pills and it would help to regulate your hormones and such like met? unless your diabetic?!!

I can't take BCP because of my history with blood clots, so I take met to regulate me and plus I'm insulin resistant.

So glad (well, not that glad) that someone else is having problems at the 1500 dose. I had minimal s/e's and worked my way up to 1500 very, very slowly-over the course of two months. Other than 1 hypoglycemic episode, I have had few stomach issues. Then I went to 1500. Yikes, I had hypoglycemia, fatigue, general feeling terrible. Running to and fro the bathroom. I have no idea what brings it on. I ate exactly the same meal in the same restuaurant twice in one week-once I felt fine, another time, terribly sick. Ugh. I went back down to 1000 again. I figure if I ovulate on 1000, why should I try and kill myself at 1500?

I'm really waiting for the s/e's to go away. They are worst in the morning.

I felt that "morning sickness" feeling too when I increased from 1000mg to 1500mg, and then again when I increased to 2000mg. I had to be really careful to make sure I kept my blood sugars level by eating more regularily and actually needed to add some extra carbs to my diet that I had been avoiding ...that really helped me. It lasted the first few weeks of the change and then went away each time. (I stopped Met once after reaching max dose due to an illness, and then had to start over a month or so later, so I've done this a few times.) I even tried backing off & going back down to 1000mg thinking 1500mg was just too much for me, but eventually realized that I did need to up my dose to treat my PCOS effectively. That's when I tried increasing my carbs slightly during the change and that helped me.

One cyster explained that it could be a result of your insulin or blood sugar levels decreasing and your brain just not being used to these lower levels yet. I believe this also happens in early pregnancy so that may be why it feels similar? In my experience it does pass if you just stick with it.....good luck!

I know of several people on Met who do not want to get preggy and me also since developing heart issues.
Met does more than help you ovulate. For me it straightens out my cycle, and balances all my hormones including testosterone and also helps the IR. Not to mention BCP make you gain weight while MET helps people loose.
BCP have way to many side effects just to regulate my period and it actually has a lot of risks over the long run. BCP also do not help IR and the long term effects it has on the body.
MET is a miracle drug for us PCOS ladies. It helps in so many areas.

I had the same problems with the 500mg pills switching to 1500. As soon as I started taking 850 twice a day instead (1700 total) it stopped.
For me the 850g pills definitely work better. I heard this from more people also. Could be something in the 500mg I don't tolerate.
