Default Met or Glucophage - does name brand make a difference?

I was on met 1500mg for about a year about a year ago... it didn't prove to help me all that much. I still never got a period naturally, or anything else.

I just got back from the RE a few days ago, and my RE wants me to do Glucophage XR now - and up the dosage to 2000mg now. A few ladies I have spoken with have told me that Met didn't do anything for them, but Glucophage did the trick. I realize Met is the generic version of Glucophage, but I suppose I didn't think the fillers would make that big of a difference.

Anyway I was just curious if other cysters here noticed Glucophage helping when Met didn't.

I have been on both and I prefer Glucophage. It's seems to do better with weight loss and also does not cause me to have as many side effects. My doc says there def is a difference in real and generic meds. she incourages me to pass at the temptation of the cheaper meds. Hope that helps.

I was on actual Glucophage for a year and it regulated me. Now I'm on Met on an even higher dosage but the first month or so , my cycle was incredibly long. My last cycle was 30 days so I'm hoping that wasn't a fluke!
