Hello everyone! I already introduced myself on the newbies section but I'm new to the board and PCOS and very happy to be here with all you sweet ladies. ^_^

I have question on Met. I've been taking Metformin 500MG for only three days now and here are the side effects I'm noticing so far. Upset stomach, potty visits, light headaches, and last night I couldn't sleep well because of my own loud heartbeats. Could this be another side effect from the medication?

I'm also taking medication for my hypothyroidism.

Looking forward to seeing results from Met. *crossing fingers*

The loud heartbeat thingey is a new one to me....the others are pretty common side effects. I don't have an answer for that, except to tell your doctor....I'll give your post a bump...maybe one of the other cysters has experienced this one.

hi,

Did you start low carbing at the same time you started taking your meds? Or not drink much water. When i first started low carbing my heart beat would keep me up at night. It was really annoying and I notice it on days that i don't drink enough water. Low carbing is a natural diuretic and so I started supplementing with potassium and it went away. And if i'm correct you are supposed to drink lots of water while taking Met.

Have been prescribed Diane-35 and Alesse and couldn't tolerate them. Prescribed Metformin 03/24/03-hair loss and hair growth stopped, almost regular menstration!!

I started cutting down on carbs at the same time as I started taking met, yeah, but side effects were getting too bad and I had to stop them as it was causing me hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Why my rapid heartbeats and other weird new symptoms with Met.
Seeing my endo again on Monday about this. >_<;

I'll write a new entry on Met and hypoglycemia.
