Question met & herbal supplements

I have been taking 2000mg of met for about 9 months now. I am worried that i am not taking the supplements needed to help keep my liver etc healthy while being on it. I am thinking of taking milk thistle and also starting a vitamin B supplement. Can anyone help as to what doses etc of these i need? And also whether it's ok to take milk thistle with met? thank you so much

I was hoping to see what people had replied. You asked a good question. Let me know if you found anything out, please.

As far as I know there isn't any specific recommendation as to the amount of b12 to take while taking Met. I take a supplement called Folic Acid Extra made by Sundown.

1200 mg of calcium a day has been shown to offset the b12 malabsorption problem for people taking Met.

Milk Thistle can lower blood sugar, so you will be at an increased risk of low blood sugar if you take it while taking Met. If you monitor your blood sugar, though, you should be ok with it. There are no other potential interactions of Milk Thistle with Met as far as I know.

Can anyone recommend an herbal supplement that will help with the tiredness I feel? I just started the Met 850mg 2x daily and already I am feeling the affects within an hour of taking it with a meal.

Also are there any good links/websites for diets that work well with Met? I already eat fairly low-carb, high fiber/protein meals, although I usually eat twice a day only.

Also are there any ill-effects of caffeine consumption while on Met? I refuse to give up my morning cup of java!

Thanks,
Tess
