Default Met and low Carb diet

Hi everyone,
I am new to this site, but not to the wonderful world of PCOS. I was diagnosed at 13y/o and I'm now 29. My husband and I went thru 6 years of infertility treatments. We decided enough was enough Oct 2001 and threw in the towel for good. Low and behold I got pregnant on my own Jan 2002. Our dd is almost 4 months old.
I have been doing a lot of reading on the internet and have found wonderful information about the low carb diet and metformin. I'm thin, and couldn't find much information regarding thin people with pcos. I decided to give the low carb diet a try. I have been pretty faithful for almost a month now. I don't know if I am imagining it, but it seems like the hair growth on my face has slowed a bit and I started my period on my own, which if very, very rare. I have an appt. fri and was going to ask the dr. for a script for metformin. What is the difference between metformin and glucopage? Also, once I start the metformin, do I need to continue the low carb diet? I have been tested, and am not IR, but I can't help but still think there is correlation.
Thanks in advance for any information.
Julie

Metformin is the same thing as glucophage. Met is the just a brand name.
Someone else just posted about low carbing and met...I don't know for sure, but it seems logical that doing both would be useful (see that post). I am curious to hear what your Dr. thinks.

Metformin and Glucophage are the same thing, but actually Glucophage is the brand name and metformin is the generic. Some cysters take Glucophage XR (XR = time release)(no generic available), same basic drug but the delivery is different.

I'm a thin cyster too, also non-IR. There has to be some link because met shortened my cycle a LOT. I don't low carb.
