Hello cysters,I've been here for a few weeks lurking,it is so good to not feel alone in this anymore.I have pcos & ir,but not ttc.I've had this since childhood I believe.
anyway,I know I saw a mention of taking milk thistle and metformin somewhere around here, but can't find it now.
I'm taking alot of milk thistle to kind of prepare my fatty old liver before starting the met in a few days and am wondering if it would weaken the effectivness of the met if I continued to take a small dosage of milk thistle.I don't have insurance and am a single mom, so regular tests are not an option for me.
I was taking Milk Thistle and Liv52, but I have stopped just because I started experiencing alot of breakouts on my face and thought it had to be from the Milk Thistle & Liv52, I have no idea about taking it with Met, I am now taking Met and haven't tried them both together, what I would do is contact your Dr. and see what they say even if a nurse can answer the queshtion over the phone and another thing you could do is call a Health Food Store or someone that specializes in Alternative Medicine and see what they think. You should also post this queshtion over on the Alternative Remedies section of the board.
thank you so much Wendy.I did ask my pharmacist, she acted like she didn't even know what I was talking about at first, then said it would probably be ok, but they would maybe need to adjust my dose later...she did not say up or down.I will ask in the alternative remedies section also.and a health food store probably would know more, good idea.

Your Welcome! I would defintley ask a Alternative Medicine Dr and see what they think or someone that works in a Health Food Store with good knowledge on Alternative Medicine. Alot of regular Dr's & pharmacist don't want to discuss Alternative Medicine with there patients or give any advice on it. I hope you find out the answer to your queshtion soon! Take care.
