Okay so Im taking the metformin (irregularly) for 3 months, but my AF hasnt shown up! Last week I had a brown discharge, like you would get at the end, but nothing else!
This is the first time I've not gotten regular, in fact I got my 3rd baby on just metformin, and I was hoping, just a little, for another one! Should i up the dose ( heaven help me), or just go see a doc. right now Im at 1000 a day.
any help would be great, cause I dont have insurance, so seeing a dr. would be really expensive. I could really use a little cysterhood to give me your experience!
Also I havent had a period since December...im getting a little nervous. Is it time to bring out the medroxy?
thank you so much ahead of time!

Since you haven't had a period since December and since you're TTC, I would suggest Prometrium to induce AF. Medroxy (aka Provera) isn't recommended for women who are TTC. Prometrium works just as well and is safe on women who are TTC.
I, too, didn't receive AF while taking Metformin alone. I had to take Prometrium to induce AF.
Also, if your body is tolerating the 1000mg dosage, then I would recommend talking to your dr about upping your dosage to 1500mg and maybe even 2000mg after that.
But, first and foremost, if you haven't had AF in 6 months, you need to have one. So talk to your dr and have him give you a prescription for Prometrium. You need to have a healthy AF every 3 months to keep the uterine lining healthy.
I haven't had AF since June of last year and that was only because i was BCP, before that i never had one! I am TTC, and i to have no insurance, and the DR's i've spoken to think im just crazy or something, just the way they look at me and keep wanting to put me on BCP. I've been taking Met for 2 months and no AF, no change, nothing at all, taking 500mg 2x daily (sometimes i do forget) But i am a little impatient, Metformin may just take awhile to work on some people, hopefully it will all work out for everyone !
I didn't get AF for over a year, when the dr put me on metformin it took me about 10 months to resume my cycles. Since then I have it regularly, I can set my watch to it. I don't think it would do any harm to up your dosage. My doc told me that metformin is safe to up, but don't up it over 2500mg day without bloodwork. I currently don't have insurance either but I'm TTC, so I upped mine to 2000/day from 1500/day to give me a little boost.
