Question met and not TTC?

Hi there! Should you be on met if you are not clinicaly IR or TTC? I supose I am a thin cyster but am finding it much harder to maintain weight, at the moment I am just over my healthy weight range. I also have acne, mood swings and no cycles without meds. I am def not ttc at the moment. All advice is greatly appreciated!

thanks!

regards

I went on met long before TTC. It did wonders for regulating my cycles and increasing my libido. Not to mention the other health benefits. For me that meant that I'm no longer starving all the time, I have more energy, and I no longer have wierd episodes where my husband has to get some protein into me because I'm shaking and I can't really think straight. Even if your situation isn't as severe, met can really help for PCOS beyond TTC.

So if you're not TTC and go on Met, do you need to take BCP to keep from conceiving? Can you take Met and BCP together?

Met isn't just about increasing your fertility, fertility is just a nice side-effect. If you go on Met and don't want to get pregnant it really isn't any different than not being on Met and not wanting to get pregnant. Just use your birth control method of choice.

Docs have a hard time in Australia prescribing met if you are not TTC and especially if you are not overweight/high GTTI.

I haven't been successful in getting met either b/c of normal insulin resistance test results (which I feel are not accurate b/c I also get shaky very easily if I do not eat every 2-3 hours).
I am not giving up hope though. I am not currently TTC but would like met so I can have normal cycles w/o BCP.
