Default Met with other Meds?

Hi Guys,

I just started Met today, I have PCOS and IR, and didnt have a clue I had it until I went off my BCP for the first time since I was 15, last May. My periods stopped. My doc diagnosed me with PCOS and IR. Started me back on BCP, my skin has cleared and I have monthly visitors right on schedule.

My weight was a concern to him so he started me on Met XR, 500 mgs 2x a day.

Took my first one today. Was conscious of eating a low carb, low fat meal that didnt have too much roughage for my first day out of the shoot. Ive been reading these posts and didnt' want to start off badly LOL.

My question is, I take Ortho BCP, Paxil, Allegra D and Singulair, multi vit, b complex, and tramadol (150 mgs/day) for back spasm. Should I stagger these, or take the Met first with meal in the AM, and follow up with the others a few hours later?

I wasn't sure so I thought I would ask about anyone else's experience?

Thanks!

Emily

I would probably check with either your pharmacist or your Dr.

I know the Met you need to take with your meal(s) and it is better to take your vitamins in the AM with food if you can (the food allows for proper absorption and the B Vits will give you too much energy before bedtime.) The other meds I am not familiar with...

I did read that you need to be careful with decongestants and allergy meds with MET but that may be only for people with Diabetes taking it...not IR.
