Default met and ovulation....

hi all....
i'd like to know how soon one can start ovulating spontaneously(without assistance-clomid etc) on met and what's the min dosage required for that....i'd like to know from your experience....have only 3 days left to BD before we leave for a houseful of relatives (where i'll be glad even to get a glimpse of my DH) am on cd14 today....so want to make the most of everything.....i don't even know if i o'd this cycle 'cause it's totally unmonitored this month ...but 'u never know'
another question is when did the met s/e really start setting in.....i'm on my 5th day from starting met at 500mg and am still ok....but i'll be travelling this thursday and friday and wednesday is the day i have to up my dose to 1000mg...but i was scared that things will start going bad while travelling so i upped my dose today itself...so i can lower it if my stomach turns loose.....2 days before schedule.....
so when was it that the stuff really starts freaking u out
i want to be prepared for this as far as i realistically can .....i don't want to make a fool of myself when i visit his relatives.....which will be most of next week.... just want some tips....and info...

There is no hard and fast rule, really. It depends on how well the met moves your hormones and how far from normal for you your hormones are to begin with. For me it was several months before I got my hormones lowered enough to get AF and a few months beyond that before I O'd, but every woman responds to met differently.

Knowing what I do about met, I would try to moderate your carbs and give your body a couple of months to regulate hormonally. then have some bloodwork run to make sure your hormones are moving in the right direction. I know how hard it is to be patrient a few months more (wheen you have had to wait for a baby already), but your hormones can take some time to get rolling regularly and if you give your body a few months, it may be able to help when your hormones are where they need to be.

Have fun with your family.

Some women respond very quickly, and some take a long time. This could mean that 500mg is enough for you to get a good ovulation this month or that 1000mg will get you one in three or four months or any other combination. Many of us got a cycle within three months, but that is often without a good egg.
I conceived eight months after starting metformin, and that was at 1500mg and after seven weeks of a low carb diet.
I wish you the best of luck!

I started taking glucophage at the end of August 500 mg a day the first week and raising and additional 500 mg per day the following weeks until I was taking 2000 mg per day. I O'ed in November and got pg. Though I hear that it is different for everyone.

Good luck. My s/e kicked in full force the day after I started taking the glucophage! You are lucky if you aren't experiencing any s/e!!
