Question Met and Periods

Hi everyone,
I am new to this site. I was just diagnosed with PCOS August 2004 after years of symptoms. While not on bc pills my periods are nonexistant. I have been taking Glucophage XR 1500 mg daily since October 22 (approx. 3 weeks). So here's my question--For those of who that the Glucophage helped you ovulate without other meds, how long did it take? My last period was in August, but it was induced by Provera so I don't think that counts. . My blood testing shows that my hormones are definitely "off", but not as "off" as they could be so I am kind of in the middle there, if that makes since! I don't really even know if previous hormone levels have an effect on the ability of Glucophage to make one ovulate. Anyway,t ahnks for your help!
Jennifer

Hi, and welcome to SoulCysters.
I'm not on Glu, but on Met. Which Glu is practically the name brand for Met.
Without any medication I would probally never have a period. If I'm lucky maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Years ago, I took BC to be regulated, but will never go that route again.
I've had to take provera several times myself, but don't like that either.
I have been on Metformin 2ce. The first time I defiantly had regular periods. It took 3 months to work, and I was on 1500mg a day.
The second time which is now it took me exactly 2 months to get that first period. I'm on 1700mg. a day. I've had regular periods ever since due to the Metformin.
Every cyster that has posted about how long it took for them has varied. Some within 1-3 weeks. Some like me 2-3 months. Some longer, even up to 11 months. I think it depends on the individual.
But the key is not give up. Sometimes it may take longer to get in thier system, for it to regulate you. Hang in there and don't give up.
I was so anxious to get my period I was so discouraged after I still didn't have one after 3 weeks, I thought it wasn't working. But it was working, I just had to give it time.......
Good luck A/F will show up and come knocking on your door eventually.

Hi Jennifer! We met in the chatroom a week or so ago and I lost your email address..good to find you again! I can't help you with this one since my periods were already fairly regular, but I am on Met.
