Default Met Q

Hi ladies,

I was just given a RX for MET. I have read that it makes you really sick, is this true, and is there anything to help?
TIA

I just started Met ER last night and am feeling horrible today. I'm not sure I can take it!!! I also would like some advice I had grilled cheese on wheat bread and low fat chicken noodle soup for lunch and still landed in the bathroom right after lunch. What am I supposed to eat? Can I have a diet soda? I love my diet soda at lunch!!!

some people dont experience any side effects and a majority of those that do wear off after your body adjust. There are a few you cannot tolerate met.

I didn't mean to be discouraging, but I had the medcation for two weeks before I got the courage to take it. Now, I'm just trying to get through these first couple of days. It has to get better, doesn't it!?????

I think it varies person to person.

I personally had no side effects, none. I started taking 500mg once a day, then worked to 1000mg (500 twice a day), now I have leveled out. I take 500mg three times a day for 1500 mg total.

I have lost weight since being on it, I feel better, I have more energy. It gave me my life back, I can't imagine being off it ever.

If you look there are lots of people who have
had good experiences, and even lots of tips from those who had a rough start.

Good luck!!

I've been taking Met for almost a year now and it still gives me troubles. The side effects weren't as bad as they were in the beginning, but they still land me on the toilet after I eat something I don't usually eat every day.

At least my blood sugar is down to a normal level, which according to my parents makes up for it. Yea, right.

Sorry that I'm so cynical today. I am PMSing. And of course ya'll know what that feels like with PCOS. :<

I started on 500 mg of Met ER a couple of weeks ago. A week after I increased the dosage to 1000 mg, and yesterday upped it again to 1500 mg. I have had no side effects whatsoever. Guess i'm one of the lucky one's, huh? I thought the Met ER made the difference, but after reading momof2boyz' post i'm not too sure.

The most important thing to do with met IMO is to work up slowly...I started on 250mg and slowly worked my way up to 1500...My stomach was pretty raw in the beginning and I had some emergency bathroom moments but they really go away! OR you could be one of the lucky ones, there are many many cysters who have no problems with met at all!!
Take it slow and good luck!

I started on Met back in October and was very scared about taking it just because of all the stuff I read on the internet. My initial dosage was 500mg twice a day, then I ramped up to 500mg four times a day for a total of 2000mg. Luckily, I haven't experienced any side effects, though I'm not sure I was really insulin resistant to begin with. The only thing I notice now (and this could totally be in my head and unrelated to the Met) is that when I eat a lot of sweets I get a stomach ache, but nothing more than that.

Hopefully you won't run into any problems! Good luck!

Well, I haven't had any bad side effects from it. I have only taken 1 thus far, (which was last night) the only thing I notice is my tummy being very gurgally (sp?) Other than that I am good to go!
I am supposed to take 1 1x daily for 1 wk, then 1 2xs daily for 1 more week, then finally 1 3xs daily..... from what I have read that sounds pretyt right on the money. Thanks for putting my heart at ease ladies!

The first like 2months I was on Met wasnt very fun. I had every side effect there could possibly be; Diareah, nausea, headaches you name it. But I have found that if you take it in the middle of a meal the s/e were not as bad. I really was gonna give up on it a few times because I felt like crap but I am so glad I kept taking it because it helped me get my BFP! Good luck!
