Default Met Question

Hi Ladies,

This might be a trivial question, but I am increasing to 2000mg from 1500mg. When I was taking 1500mg, I would take 3 500mg tablets per day. When you take 4 500mg tablets, do you take 2 at a time, twice per day? Or, 1 tablet 4 times per day? I am confused!

Thanks,

Ashley

Smile

Hi Ashley,

I personally would take one at Breakfast, one with my lunch, one with my evening meal and then have a snack before you go to bed and take the fourth then. Your body can react slightly when you increase your Metformin dosage so be aware of that (especially if you had side effects working up to 1500mg a day). Taking two in one dose might be too much for your system right now! If the above method works out for you, then you could try the double dose with your evening meal etc but would certainly ask your Doctor before doing so!

Default slow release?

I take the slow release and my doc told me to take all of them at once before bed, according to my doc there has been insulin resistance improvment when taken all at once before bed. THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH SLOW RELEASE. She also said it minimizes side effects...
