Question Met question

So I’ve been on 500 mg of Met for about a week. My doctor said that we’ll do three weeks at 500 mg, then 3 weeks at 1000 mg, then 3 weeks at 1500 mg because of the side effects. She feels like I need to build up. I thought that was a great idea considering the side effects I’ve read about. Oddly, it hasn’t effected me at all. The first time I took it I felt a little funny but I think that had more to do with the other medication I had been given earlier that day. I feel totally normal, and if anything, better than I had before! It doesn’t give me “loose bowel movements” or nausea. Should I call my doctor and talk to her about upping the dosage before the three weeks? Should I expect anything else in the coming weeks? Also, I’ve noticed that my appetite is lower than normal. I eat when I’m hungry, but I have no desire to eat otherwise…which I’m loving! No more late night cravings! Let me know what you think.

Hi Lex - My dr. told me to wait one week between 500 and 1000. Then i upped to 1500 on my own - havent told my dr yet, just felt like the lower dose wasnt working. I was doing the 1000 at night, then 500 in the morning, but I've discoved I have trouble sleeping. So, I'm going to try 1000 in the morning and 500 at night.

Trouble sleeping can mean low blood sugar, jbh. Are you taking the night pill with food? A snack before bed with high protien and some carb will help.

I started out like you... virtually no side effects whatsoever on the 500. Then I went up to 1000 and they started pretty badly.... then with 1500 it was almost unbearable but I'm SO glad I stuck it out. I say stick to the three weeks. It can't hurt.
