Unhappy This Met is really KILLING me this time around

I am about ready to chuck it. Seriously. I am SOOOOOO tired of the bathroom runs. This is a TMI, but these bathroom runs comewith out WARNING, and are not fun!!

I am watching what i eat, but that does not seem to do any good It's still happening. The first few weeks I had very, very minimal probs, but after the first 3 weeks, it alljust hit me, and now it is DAILY, 3 0r 4 times a day.
I feel like a prisoner in my own home. Would you recommend the XR version, or should i give this some more time? it has only been 6 weeks, so i have been dealing wit this for 3 weeks, om a DAILY basis. Ok sometimes I get a day or 2 break.

What am I doing worng? I am taking this the RIGHT way, and watching my carbs , so why is this happening.
Also I had my first period on Met. and OMG, is it ever HEAVY!!!!!

I took this in the past a few yrs back, and NEVER had any probs with it, and I DIDn'T watch what I ate.

I am really getting bummed abt this
I guess this was more of a vent then anything

Honey, you aren't doing anything wrong. THIS *is* normal on met for a while, and if you're eating right and exercising, then you're doing all you can.

Don't give up! This drug has the potential to help you in ways you never thought possible. The way I see it, even with my year of side effects was MORE than worth it. Give it the time it needs, Missy. I know how hard it is being chained to the toilet, but it is temporary and does pass. . Try to think of the ways your life will improve if you give it the time it needs to help you.

As for your being on it before and not watching your diet...you were making the drug working harder to help you. Lifestyle is an even more important change than the Met. This is a long-term thing, and your body will come around if you are doing your part.

We're proud of you for sticking it out, and we're always here for support, sweetie. Hang in there.

Oh you poor thing... it's hard, huh? I had a lot more toilet issues with the regular met than I have with the XR. In fact, (and this could just be me) I have seriously maybe had 4 or 5 times in the 4 months since starting the XR that I've had to beeline for the toilet. The only sign I have that the Gluc XR is starting to help me is that my bloodsugar has definitely dropped a good 20 'points'. Hang in there as long as you can... if the regular met gets too difficult for you, ask for the XR. {{{HUGS}}}

Thumbs up What's worked for me recently

I was "running" 4-6 times in the evening, and once before work and 1-2 times during work (as a teacher I CAN'T spend extended time in the bathroom!). Anyway, last Saturday I bought some Sam's Fibercon pills, and also some bran cereal. I read here, if you're going to have carbs, make it high in fiber.

Praise the Lord! I went 3 days with solid poops! (my husband thinks I'm nuts for being so excited! )

I did a liquid diet through a hospital a couple years ago, and that caused lots of runs, too. They suggested drinking Metamucil or taking fiber supplements, too.

However, the bottle I got says "fiber laxative" and that scared me. But it's just fiber, and it worked for me.

Hope this helps
