Question Met Reduction?

Hi!
About 7 months ago, my Endo. decreased my Met from 2000mg (RE's prescribed dose) to 1000mg. I have noticed in the last few months that it is harder to lose weight, my hair is coming out 5 times as fast, my periods which became very regular are now sporadic and the fats in my blood have increased. Do you think this is a result of the decreased Metformin in my system? That is what I have been attributing all of this to and was wondering if anyone else had any similar experience. I see her (my Endo.) this week and am prepared to discuss my meds being increased again.

I just wondered if this is the route to take. Thank you for any info you can provide!

Angry ***update***

Well I saw the Endo. yesterday. She had no intentions of increasing my Met to where it was last year. I asked if there was a correlation to the decreased met doseage and the fact that my hair is coming out, that the wt is slower to come off and that my periods which were regular for 4 years while taking this dose are now almost non exsistant, and she said "NO...cheer up honey, this is what PCOS is all about". I am so miffed!! How dare she patronize me. Would putting me back on to 2000mg to see what happens be so horrible? She told me to talk to the GYN about starting Yasmin...even though I told her that I had taken it many years ago and it did not help. Couple that with the fact that I take 3 meds for HBP...what is wrong with her?

I had such a difficult time finding an endo who "undedrstood" PCOS and now this!! I don't want to go back to my RE as he is all about becoming pregnant (obvioulsy) and we went that route and failed. (We now have 2 children adopted from Korea who are the light of our lives!!) I am just so frustrated!!

thanks for listening!

Could be, LS. Your body might require a higher dose to stay regulated. For me, I have been able to cut by dose by 1/3 the last year, but I have to keep my exercise and diet clean. I would start by trying to manage the lifestyle first and if it doesn't appear to help, then ask your Dr to run your labs to see if your hormones are creeping up again.

Good luck!
