Default Met=Regular periods, then nothing?!

So I have been on Met for going on 2 years now, and for the last 8 months I have had a regular period...Now this last month I never got it. What the hell? I will say that I have been under extreme stress this past month--could that have done it? And I had been eating a lot of carbs at the time too...But I had all the symptoms of PMS--sore boobs, mood changes, acne...Just no period. Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks in advance...

First any poss. PG?

If not then stress can cause a missed period.

I dont know if this helped but there you go.

Default No...

I don't think so...I had a blood PG test 10 days ago and it was negative...It has to be stress, right? I hope...I had my insulin level drawn, and it did go up a bit from 5.9 to 7.2...But the endo said that could be stress related too...*SIGH*

Stress and increasing your carbs (especially refined ones) can definetly affect your hormones. Make a point to exercise regularly and focus on whole grain and fruit/veggie carbs and it can help a lot. I will never under-estimate the impact of diet on my hormones again.

Hope you're back to normal soon.

Hi Christine,

I've had the same thing happen to me. I started Met (+ focus on diet and exercising) in January '04 and had regular periods through May '04. Then, I went through a period of extreme stress (laid off, but luckily found & started a new job) and AF went AWOL. My last two cycles have been 50+ days after several 25-27 day cycles in a row. I've been slacking on the diet and exercise front too - and have no doubt that the stress, plus those factors, are behind my lenghtened cycles.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing a lapse in AF regularity and wanted to know I understand exactly what you're experiencing. Here's to normal cycles - for both of us - soon!

Take care,
Lissa

I have been on Metformin since February '04. I received 3 periods on it and havent gotten another since May. I did lose weight on Met along with doing the South Beach. I wonder if its due to loss of weight. I am confused and a loss of what to do. I used the NPC for 21 days and now I am gonna not use it for 7 days. Still no AF. Other suggestsons? Should I not use Met or should I go on something to induce periods?
