I have noticed a change and was wondering if it was due to a decrease in other hormones or perhaps is just in my head? Anyone else suffering from this? |

I would speak with your Dr about your dosage and your concerns and perhaps he can make some suggestions to help your situation.
All the very best!

But, in my case I think it was more a function of just feeling better and losing some weight (I didn't feel very attractive, ya know?) But, my evil twin is right...check with your doc if it is a concern. Since the crux of all the PCOS stuff is hromones, it can have that kind of an effect for some. Check with your doc, and see what he can do for you...

My Mood: Points: 1,310.45 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,310.45 | It seems like I'm in the same boat that you are.
I've been experiencing a deacrease in my sex drive lately. It's been a lot worse since I changed to 1500 mg of metformin per day.
I know I used to be in the mood fairly often, and it usually wasn't to hard for my husband to turn me on. Lately it's been another story though. It seems like I'm never in the mood anymore, it feels more like it's a chore and I'm totally not interested. The only reason I've done it latley has been to either keep my hubby happy or ttc. I feel bad everytime I tell him I'm not interested. In the past I didn't feel too bad about it because it wasn't that often, but since it's more frequent I've been feeling more guilty about depriving him. He says he's cool with it and doesn't want me to do anthing I don't want to do, but I know it's got to suck for him.
I'm hoping it is because of the change in my hormones. Based on my desire durring puberty and since then I would think that when I'm not on meds my testosterone level was probably somewhat high. It would make sense that the meds would start to work and get my hormones back in check, which would decrease my testosterone levels, and thus my sexual desire.
It kind of sucks that I can't have both, normal female hormone levels so that I can ovulate and get rid of all the symptoms of PCOS and have the sex drive that I used to. It's almost ironic that when I finally get to the point that I'l be able to get pg, I won't want to fool around anymore.
I also hate all of the emotions that I'm having to deal with now. I liked not being sad or *****y all the time. I know it's kind of normal for women to be like that because of our hormones and all the changes throughout the month, but I liked it the other way better.
I was watching a thing on te history channel last night about sex. In one part of the show they were talking about how to increase the sex drive of women. The way they were proposing doing that was to increase their testosterone levels. They were even talking about having a patch or something similar to viagra for women that would raise the level of that hormone and increase our desire.
If anyone has any suggestions please let us know. |

My Mood: Points: 126,594.46 Bank: 3,513,361.14 Total Points: 3,639,955.60 | I had this too Maria. Along with complete "morning sickness" that I couldn't get rid of.
I stopped the met for a while. I am taking it again now but I am only on 500mg per day; but I am also taking Saw Palmetto as I know it is good for hair loss/acne but I also read somewhere that Saw Palmetto has the opposite effect on your desire levels. So hoping to balance out.
I have not had that problem this time around; I will be upping the dose soon I will let you know if that changes.
Do you take Saw palmetto?
