Default Met side effects - day 1 - please help

I know that I have read about the side effects that many of you have experienced with met. After pill #1 this morning the diarrhea started and has continued all day. I'm afraid to try again tomorrow. Has anyone found anything that helps this? I need my cysters!!!

Try taking the pill in the middle of a meal. Also, if you're not already on it, start at the lowest dose: 500mg a day.

Avoid greasy or heavy foods that can tend to upset your stomach anyway--I think the met only makes it worse.

Good luck and hope you're feeling better tomorrow!

HI
When I took my first tab a week ago I took it at 4 oclock then ate dinner at 6 i had diarrohea all evening. the next day i took it at 12 with tea and sandwiches then dinner at 6 and had no side effects at all. Im now on 2 a day one in morning and one at dinner so far all is well. im going on to 3 next week.
I think the trick is to start off taking them in the middle of small non fatty meals. I am avoiding all fatty foods so i think thats helping.
good luck

Ohhhh, the fun side effects of Met!
My endo told me that if it gets bad the first week or so, Immodium AD helps. I only had to use it once or twice, but it did help! Like the posts above, avoid eating too many carbs at one time ( a lot of fruit or starchy stuff), and avoid really greasy or fatty stuff.
Hang in there, it will get better!

I started taking Met 3 weeks ago and either eat it with a meal or take it with milk. I completely agree on watching what you eat. Last night I snitched a couple of onion rings off my husbands plate at the restaurant and paid for it the rest of the evening. I'm finding that greasy foods or too many carbs set off the diahrea. Also check you bottle mine came stamped with take with food or milk.

I just started the met too and ditto with the greasy or carbo foods. I guess it's a good thing, since I was told to limit my carbohydrates anyway.
