Default Met / Spiro Help?

I am going back to my doctor tomorrow (Tuesday) and I am looking for some help?

At the moment I am on 1500mg of Metformin (not XR) a day. I started at the end of May. Since then I have had 4 AF's (starting in July). They were regular enough with 30-39 days in between and cycle length from 5-7 days. I have never ever been this regular so I know it was the Met helped this.

Now I'm not sure what to do. I would like to increase my Met to 2000mg a day to see what happens! If it would help with anything else like my weight or hair growth.

My first piority was getting AF regulated...as Af is semi-regulated I am happy...and my next piority...well sometimes its the hair growth sometimes its my weight. It depends how I am feeling.

I have read a bit about Spiro. And I would love to try it out. I am just wondering about dosage. If you are on Met & Sipro what dosage of each are you on?

Also I know about the importance of taking a BCP with Spiro but I have only had 4 AF's regular on my own (well with Met)...I would like to have more on my own before regulating them with Yasmin. Im not seeing anyone at the moment so I guess that is possible. Is anyone on Sprio & Met without taking a BCP?

I am the first of my doctors patients that he has put on Met for PCOS. So I guess I am a bit of a guinea pig for him! I don't mind, I wanted to start Met to see if it would help me.

This is why I need the information before I go so I will be able to explain both my options to him clearly....I know he will know about Sprio & Yasmin & Met but I would like to understand too before I go...and have enough information to state my case (in case he wants to keep me on the 1500mg of Met I am already on)

So if anyone has any advice or help or anything! Please let me know!

Thank you!

Default Met/Spiro combo

I have taken Metformin for PCOS for about 1 1/2 years. I started the Spironolactone two months after I started the Met. Metformin alone started my periods. I use to only have one or two a year. I asked for the Spironolactone to help with my hair loss/Acne issues. My testosterone was 119 it is now at 19. I was never diabetic or insulin resistant, but the Met works for me. All of my PCOS symptoms have improved. I now have very regular periods for the first time in my life. I feel great.
I am not in a relationship right now, where I need to consider Birth Control. I don't think I will ever go on the pill again. It masked my PCOS symptoms for years. The Metformin/Spironlactone Combination has worked wonders for me. Good Luck

I have been on spironolactone for 22 months now and metformin for 10 months. I think that together they work really well though I was ill for about a week with spironolctone but it well worth keeping going with since it has helped alot with the excess hair issue.

Good luck
