Default Met and spotting.

Hi all-

I have been on Met for about 6 weeks, first 4 weeks were at 500mg and the past two weeks at 1000mg. My question is, does anyone else have spotting between periods? My periods are fairly regular, but have noticed that I have light bleeding off and on between periods, especially when I am (or should be) ovulating. Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for any response you may give.

I am so happy to find your post b/c I am currently going thru the same thing. I have been on met (1000mg) for about 2 weeks. I noticed today (CD 15) that I was spotting. I'm still new to this drug, but it is nice to know that someone else is going thru the same thing. good luck!

What a coincidence that I find this today. I have been on Met for a few months and things have been fine. I rarely have a period because I'm also on Yaz, however, for the last week or so, when I go to the restroom, there is blood on the toilet paper. Not enough to warrant a pad or anything, but it's definitely there. It's also in the middle of my pack of Yaz so it is not a normal time for me to have a period. I hope someone has some good advice or answers!

Hello everyone.. Ive had midcycle spotting for years and this is what I have found out. Some women can actually spot for a day or two around ovulation time. This is completely normal as long as the spotting is not too much and doesnt last for more than 2-3 days.. Here is something from justmommies.com

"There are a couple of thoughts on what causes ovulation spotting. Some people believe that the light spotting is a result of the egg rupturing through the follicle during ovulation. It is thought that as the egg bursts from the follicle that a little bleeding may occur. This is why some women may notice brown spotting, which is generally an indicator of older blood, around the time they ovulate. The blood may turn brown as it exits the body.

The other possible explanation for ovulation spotting is that the spotting is a result of a woman’s changing hormones during ovulation. As a woman’s body prepares to ovulate, follicles will start to grow and mature. As they mature they produce more estrogen. This increase in estrogen triggers a surge in LH, another hormone involved in ovulation. When LH surges it signals the mature egg to burst from the follicle. Estrogen rises sharply right before a woman ovulates and it is thought that the increase in estrogen levels may cause light spotting to occur."

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the reply, it puts my mind at ease to know why. It also was great to find out that is an indicator of ovualtion! Thanks for the wonderful input! Have a great weekend!

Thank you for being nice!! I really am just blown away by all of the information I get. I was shocked to learn the other day that even though I don't have a fallopian tube on the right side, it is still possible for me to ovulate from the right side and get pregnant. Apparently, I didn't pay attention during sex ed class or something because I seem to have no idea how my own reproductive organs work!! Up until this whole PCOS thing, I didn't even think about it.
