Hi Princess.
My understanding is, that it depends what outcome you are after. Every woman has different goals in treating PCOS, because it manifests itself differently in all of us. BCP can be an answer if you don't wish to concieve and want to simply avoid the symptoms of PCOS. But when/if conception, treating the cause of the hormone irregularities (insulin resistance), or cycling on your own is a goal, BCP are not the best option. BCP add more synthetic hormones to your body, giving Met more hormones to try and regulate. Progestin only pills also make IR worse, and makes it more difficult to reduce your insulin levels.
Every woman has to make her own decision on this. Do an internet search on the purpose of BCP and how they work, and see if they jive with your goals for treating your PCOS. That's the only way to know if BCP are right for you individually.
Good Luck!
