Default MET for thin, non-IR cyster. HELP!

Hello All. Sorry if this is redundant for some. I am just trying to get as much info as possible. My anxiety expresses itself through doing tons of research.

OK. I was diagnosed with PCOS via ultrasound ("string of pearls") about 3 years ago. I never had regular periods (really really off) but all my bloodwork came back normal. Therefore, I was told that I one that is thin, non-IR, but with PCOS.

Clomid never worked. I finally got pg on 50(iu?) of Follistim and IUI. I have great little boy who is now 2. My DH has agreed to TTC #2 but wants to hold off on the injections IUI because of cost and repeated doctors visits infringing in our lives.

What do you think of me trying met? Have you heard of it helping thin, non_IR people? I have had mixed results. Anything else worth a shot?

Sorry for the long message but I really need some help. Thanks.

I'm thin, non-IR, and am starting met. There is research out there that it works, but as with anything it just depends on the person.
Here is a good study since you like reading research:
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/494049_2
And here is a link that someone else gave me that goes to this doctor. It does the best job at explaining how met can help thin PCOSers get pg.
http://www.jarrettfertility.com/PCOS...20handout.pdf
"As noted earlier, we know that glucophage works in this group because of the increase in the activity of aromatase, with the resulting increase in estrogens and decrease in androgens – in other words, correction of the androgen/estrogen ratio."
There is really good info in there about thin PCOS in general and more specifics on how exactly met works in our bodies.

Good luck getting a doc to rx it for you since many don't seem informed. Some cysters have lots of luck getting it but not me (I'm self medicating while I'm continuing the doc search).
Also you may want to check out the success stories sticky! Good luck!!

ME! I am thin non-IR with PCOS. I used only metformin to conceive my daughter almost 3 years ago, got the prescription from my OB GYN. I am so surprised they didn't start you on metformin first! In fact, I conceived my daughter on the 1st month of Met XR version. I am about to start back up on metformin to ttc #2. You should 1st try to see an OB GYN to start Metformin - I can't remember now, maybe if your bloodwork doesn't show the classic signs they won't give it to you... I'm not sure.

Thank you so much for the input. I am going to try it. I just want to try something less invasive first. I think I can get the Met. My OBGYN also has PCOS so is quite sensitive. Good luck!
