Okay Ladies,
So I have been on met for a little over a week. I started on 500 mg once a day for the first 7 days and then I moved up to 500 twice a day yesterday (Monday).
In order to handle food, I have been taking Imodium AD once a day. However, because of this, I haven't had a BM in a long time. But if I don't take the Imodium, then I can't eat. Which is hard for me right now even with it.
I know there is a whole section on side effects, but because there is so much, I thought posting and hoping for some knowledgeable responses would be best.
So, what can I do to help me stomach food and still be regular?? (by the way, I am sorry for the poop talk, it's a topic none of us like, I know.)
What is your diet like?? I am on 2000mg/day (4 pills) and if I eat a meal with too many carbs, too much fat or too much sugar...I have some bathroom side effects. My best advice is to watch your diet and you won't have as many side effects...I know it's not fun but we have to remember the end result :-)

I agree..from what i have heard there are some herbal remedies that seem to help. I am not one to talk because I have not done anything to help my s/e including not watching what i eat, stupid i know. But i think the best way to control your s/e is watching your diet. That means no greasy foods, not TONS of carbs or sugar.

Yep, if I eat a meal with too much fat or grease, too much sugar, or too many carbs, I will end up running for the bathroom in the end. However, once I started eating more protein, refined carbs like whole wheat, and veggies, the GI symptoms were more under control.
Okay, I think I've figured it out!
Met makes me loose my appetite, but I have realized I HAVE to eat no matter what my stomach is telling me. I have found that it's not really my carb intake, which was the obvious assumption. It is more that I let myself go too long without eating. People are 1000% correct when they say eating small 100-200 calorie "meals" 4-5 times a day really helps! I am so glad I was able to work this out! I have moved up to 1000 mg a day without any side effects!!
