I don't know enough about Met to really answer your question. You may ask a moderator to move your post to the Metformin board. But since Met does curb carb and sugar cravings, I would not think it that unlikely that it would cause those stomach symptoms if you go overboard. (I kinda wish it did that for me - I just cannot control myself around carbs sometimes ) |

Eat a low carb high protien diet and your symptoms should ease some, although some of this is just the reality of life on the drug!
It does get better! Good luck!

Oh I think that might be a really ture statement! I've been on met since december and I'm just now figuring a lot of things out from reading and seeing other womens experiences.
I had a twinkie yesterday and it didn't even tase the same to me.
It was good. I mean, it's a twinkie! if ya know what I mean.....
and i'm sure you do. But lo and behold it wasn't that crazy oh my gosh this twinkie is so divinely good, kind of satisfying good.
I actually didn't even finish the one cake.
Gone is the great twinkie indulgence trigger.
I'm sure it's the metformin.
I have also just recently lost my desire for pasta.
I ordered a huge chef salad the other day at a Mexican restaurant.
Not because I was trying to stick to a diet, but because the spinach and boiled eggs sounded really good.
Odd how that happens. the met makes our bodies more receptive to the sugars in food and we nautrally begin to make new choices.

Yes, it's very common to have the growly stomach and stuff on met when you eat high carb or greasy foods. For me, the met really curbed my carb cravings, and I get most of my carbs from fruit or veggie sources. It has helped me feel a lot better, and I find the regular sugary stuff is almost too sweet for me now. I don't even really crave my ol' pasta, rice or even breads that often anymore. I still eat them, but just in small amounts.
