Question Met & Weight Loss

Hi,

I have been on the full dosage of Met 2000mg for 2 weeks now as well as exercising and I was wondering when you noticed the weight loss and energy increase. I am more interested in the energy increase. I have also been on the low GI diet for the past 3 months.

Thanks!

I don't know if this will help...

I start Met in Sept of 08. I was already reducing carbs and increasing protein because I had been running marathons for a couple of years. It was just a better way to eat.

After starting the Met, I lost about 11 pounds in 3 weeks. I attribute that not only to the Met, but also to following the IR Diet (although I didn't know it was the IR Diet at the time!). Then, I got pregnant and continued on the Met.

What does your gut tell you might be the hold-up on losing weight on Metformin?

I noticed a drastic uptake in my energy after a couple weeks. I have been on the Met for 6 weeks now and I am consistantly losing 3-4 lbs a week.

I'm on 1500mg a day though and I have a lot of weight to lose.

Lack of energy could be due to MANY causes (including depression, which is common in women with pcos as a result of high androgens. Depression doesn't always present as 'sadness'.)

As for 'weight loss'...how are you regulating your calories. At the end of the day, calorie control combined with exercise will be your best bet. The recommended amount of exercise for weight loss is 300 minutes per week - combination of cardio and strength.
