Default Metformin

Is there any reason for a "thin"cyster to need Metformin?

My biological sister was diagnosed with PCOS when she was 17 (about 12 years ago). I have just recently found out that I might have it too. My sister exhibits more of the traditional symptoms. I received my period at age 13, have always been skinny until recently (I have packed on a few extra pounds); however, I can lose weight whenever I want to. My weight has always hung out around my belly though. I have only found out that my Dr. might think that I have pcos from paperwork received from his office (our poss. reason for infertility).

Anyway...my question is this - My sister has been taking Metformin for years, without a lot of noticeable success. I am wondering if I should be having things checked out-Is it possible that I need it too?
