Default Metformin & Acanthois nigracans

Hi all,

I was curious if any of you on met have seen a fading of acanthois nigracans (darkened velvety patches of skin between thighs, in skin folds, under breasts & back of neck) after being on met. From what I've read, AN is linked to obesity & an out of whack endocrine system (all of which I have!), so it would make sense that met would affect it. I've been thinking of going on met and I'm really hoping to see a fading of the AN.

Thanks!

I lost about 30 pounds after I started Met, but I haven't noticed much difference in the AN under my arms. Maybe if I got closer to my ideal weight, they would fade. AN is generally linked to insulin resistance. I read somewhere that 95% of all people who have it are IR. It was actually AN that made my dermatolgist suggest that I had PCOS.

My AN is virtually gone and it was really bad when i got my diagnosis. Met, diet and exercise slowly corrected it for me.
