Default metformin and accutane

is it a bad idea to be on both of these drugs at the same time? my doctor doesn't seem to think so, but last time i was on accutane it made me very dehydrated and from what i'm reading met does that too. i'm worried it may be too many side effects at once.....

wow, those are two pretty powerful drugs to be taking at one time. Is your MD a dermatologist or an endocrinologist?

If you acne is PCOS related, the Accutane may not work. I went through 3 rounds of Accutane and all it did was dry out my skin and especially the inside of my nose.

Have you tried Spironalactone? For really stubborn PCOS-related cystic acne this drug often works. I sing its praises because it's the only thing that's every worked on my acne. AND it's okay to take with Metformin.

Good luck!

hi chaplin, the reproductive endo knows that i'm scheduled to start accutane and he still wants me to go on met. but i don't have too much faith in doctors these days, so i'm wanting to decide on what would really be best for me.

this will actually be my second round on accutane. it cleared me up about 80% but about 2 months later, it all came back - that was a year ago. my plan is to go on it again and have lost weight (50 lbs) by the time i come off it again, so my IR will be gone, therefore testosterone levels done and the acne shouldn't come back.... that's the plan
