Default Metformin and Anti-Depressant Interaction

Hi,

I just started metformin about a week ago. I am also currently taking Fluoxetine (prozac) for anxiety. I wanted to know if anyone out there has taking anti-depressants along with Met and if it has slowed Met working or not. I really want to get my period off of Met alone and I don't want anything to interact. Should I stay on antidepressant? Or should I let Met run its course alone? Also does anyone know if the anti-depressant impedes weightloss process too? thanks!

I take both met and fluoxetine (have for a couple of years now) and I have had no problems from taking the two together. I get my periods regularly now thanks to the met (and I ovulate), and the fluoxetine has been a lifesaver to get my depression under control. As for anti-depressants causing weight gain, it does not apply to fluoxetine. On the contrary, it's beneficial for weight loss. HTH!

Luv,
Dani

I'm taking Paxil and Met. I hope it's not slowing the Met down. I'm on CD 35 and I haven't O'd yet. This is my first cycle of Met. I want a baby so bad right now that I don't wanna wait anymore.

my dd takes zoloft and met. it hasn't caused her any trouble at all. she's lost and maintained her weight in the last 4 yrs. but she uses the patch and bcp before that so periods are regulated by that.
