Question Metformin in Aucks?

Hi All

Happy Holidays!!
So much for the low carbing!! he he, oh well, start over in the New Year!!

Do any of you cysters know how I could get Metformin, like, over the net, in Auckland??
I've just emigrated here, and the new doc is more trouble than he's worth...he doesnt want to prescribe the Gluc. for me.

How do all you Kiwi cysters get your Gluc, and are there any Metformin-friendly gynaes/docs/endo around the north island?? I'm willing to travel!!!

Thanks all!
Enjoy your New Year!

Kari

Hiya

Sorry i think your post is old - but i'm gonna answer it anyways.

I'm in Wellington, so I can't speak for auckland, but surely you could get your doctor to give you a referal to the hospital, so that you can see an endocrinologist through the public health system? Only catch is that you might have to wait a while.

Other than that, you could actually go private, and make an appointment to see an endocrinologist.
When i had mine, she cost about $190 for the initial consultation - but worth her weight in gold!

Or you could just change doctors....

Good luck!

I dont know how else you can get it besides through your Doctor or Specialist.

I cant see why your doctor would not give you a medicne that you have been on. Sounds like you should change doctors, or as Voodoo_child siad ask for a referral from you GP to see a PCOS speicalist or Endocrinologist at the Hospital. Could be that your presnet doctor isnt familair with PCOS.

Good Luck

Hiya Kari-Ann,

Stella Milsam in Greenlane Fertility + is very good, I went to her in 2000/2001 and she had 5 Metformin mummies by then. I have since shifted down south but I was at Ponsonby Medical Centre and Dion Martley was my doctor - he is very clued up on PCOS (diagnosed me Sept '97).

Hope this helps

Caroline
