Default Metformin bringing on a period

I just had my first Gynae appointment last Wednesday and was prescribed Metformin. We are TTC but I am also considered obese with a BMI above 30 so the Metformin, I was told, is to help with my insulin resistance, support me in trying to lose weight and hopefully improve my ovulation rate. At present I have managed to get my cycles back to approx 32-40 days (after 3 months on Agnus Castus which I have now stopped). In fact I had just finished a period 2 days before my Gynae appt but what I wanted to ask is, did anyone find that taking the Met induced another bleed? I began taking it on Thurs. Just 1 500mg a day until next week and this morning (Sat) I was spotting as if another period was about to start...yet it's only a week ago since my last one... Very confused.
Did anyone have a similar experience?

Yes, on my 3rd day of 500mg/day I began a very light period. You could say i was overdue since i was on day 32 of a cycle, but up until Met i never got my periods without BCP or provera. I'm taking it as a very positive sign the met is working!

I have been having regular periods since being on Met. It hasn't produced multiple bleeds in one month but I have noticed signs that I am about to get my period start a lot earlier. An example is my breasts get sore and it starts around two weeks before I actually get a period. Before the met they would be sore a week or three days before I would bleed.
