Default Metformin causing hyperactivity?

I am a thin PCOSer and used to control my symptoms (hair loss and unwanted hair growth, energy, sugar issues, and lots of cysts) with diet (low carb). That isn't working any longer so my doc put me on metformin. I'm on an induction dose of 500 mg once a day. The GI symptoms have subsided but I am rather hyperactive and having difficulty paying attention. I'm not anxious, just overly energetic. Is this normal? Anyone else experienced it? Will it get better or shoudl I learn to work with the increased energy levels?

Thank you!!

I had the same thing when I started taking Metformin. It never really hit til I was laying in bed and I just felt so hyper!!! I told my DH that it felt like I was on a caffeine high! But it only lasted maybe a week and I don't have it anymore

Metformin will increase your energy levels...that's the purpose of the medication. I wonder if Dr.'s should be varying doses according to your weight & other factors. For myself, it took an unusually long time to respond to it. Like over 2 years. Now I've noticed having a much easier time losing the weight and I'm not gaining any at all. With the exception of the time where I'm ovulating.

With this increased energy, maybe you can use it in a good way. Like excerising...it gets rid of mine and I can sleep at night.
