Default metformin and cinnamon supplements

I am currently taking Metformin 1000 mg a day. Is it ok to be taking Cinnamon supplement 1000 mg a day with it?

I take 2000mg a day of Met and 1000mg of cinnamon. I'm fine and have been doing that for a year now.

Yes, it has helped to regulate my hormones. You do know that it is not a weight loss drug, right? And while it has helped me lose some weight, I also contribute that to changing the way I eat.

Are you IR? Because one it helps to regulate your hormones, then yes it does make diet and exercise actually work.

wait, can one of you guys explain cinammon to me? neither my endocrinologist or acupuncturist have ever mentioned it as a supplement to be taking with metformin... and I need all the help I can get on regulating my hormones since neither acupuncture or metformin alone have brought on periods.

Cinnamon helps to regulate blood sugar.

I take cinnamon with metformin.

Cinnamon has a similar effect to metformin in that it helps with insulin resistance. Metformin and Cinnamon together could increase your risk of having a hypo. Be careful taking the two together and just to be safe discuss it with your doctor.

If you do decide to take it then start with a low dose and increase it gradually. In theory, you should be able to partially replace the metformin with cinnamon.

You should probably sit down with your doctor and discuss what you're taking, since you're ttc.

Could somebody explain the cinnamon in more detail? I guess I was under the impression that it was good for Type II Diabetes, but it was more for blood sugar control than insulin resistance.
