Oh my goodness!! Yes, those are the exact problems I have been having! I starting taking Met and prepared myself for the onslaught of all of the diarrhea issues and they never came. Instead constipation. I too, have always been a very regular girl.
I've also been getting a lot of headaches.
I've been drinking a lot more water to help and taking extra fiber.
I'm not up to my full dose of 1500mg yet, so I guess we will wait and see what happens then.

So I have found that cinnamon and milk thistle both work really well to help with constipation. Milk thistle is a good liver cleaner, and helps get rid of a gunk in there. Cinnamon is great because not only does it seriously cut sweet cravings, but it has also helped to make me more regular. As I've been taking the Metformin (I'm at 500mg 2x a day) I've gotten a lot more regular...but I think the cinnamon and milk thistle definitely help.

With cinnamon though, you have to be careful not to overdo it...It can be toxic, and just hard on your stomach in general. I take 3g a day (one with each meal), but I worked up to that. Good luck!

It might have something to do with your diet, not just the met, is your diet high in protein? or dairy products? I know the past couple of days i've been craving cheese like a mouse would and well its never caused me problems in the past but I think being on met may have changed that, i feel all stopped up too, I took peri-colace and it seemed to help. hope things get better for you

I have been on 1500 mg of Met for three months, and find that I typically oscillate between constipation and diarrhea over the course of 3-4 days, then start all over again. I just started taking extended relief, which seems to slightly lesson the symptoms on either end of the scale.

I have been on Met for almost 4 mths now and I have never had a problem with constipation, I couldn't seem to stay out of the bathroom. Here recently my sideeffects from taking Met has completly went away. I say give it time and it will get better.
