Default Metformin could this be symptoms of the meds

I started taking 500mg of metformin about a week and a half ago and just recently last 4 days or so have been feeling terrible. Nautious all day, just sick as can be to my stomach. I had mild diarreah when I first started taking the medication and mild gas now I have this issue, do you think it is the Metformin or is something else going on? Even when I sleep I wake up feeling terribly ill, to sleep on my stomach often makes me feel nautious too. I have been feeling hungrier too. I guess my main question is do symptoms often appear awhile after medication has been started? I was always under the impression or understanding that if you had symptoms that they are almost instant. Are any of my symptoms the same that others have expierenced? And yes, I even thought for a moment I was prego but took a test today and it is negative. So I wonder what gives?
I welcome any suggestions advise or confirmation of what I am going through is normal.
Thanks, Corina

I would say that they are the s/e that I have had. You might be sick too. I thought that my upset tummy was from my met and turns out that I was sick. Lasted a few days and now is mostly gone. I have been on met for 3 months and I still somtimes get the s/e. I would figure out what you are eating that might make it bad. I know for me if I eat alot of carbs or fried food then I get really bad s/e.

I had nausea and the runs until I got serious about diet. Consider eating to control your insulin if you aren't already...my s/e disappeared when i did that.

Good luck!

My s/e were delayed as well. I was fine for the first few weeks, and then had more problems about a week after I got up to 1500mg. And yes, my reaction was delayed. I had 2 episodes where I was up in the middle of the night for most of the night. Those 2 episodes were probably my worst eating days: pizza & eggplant parm... Still can't think about eating those again.
