I have a question about when to take Met. My family dr and previously prescribed me to take 500mg a day and to split it up, taking half a pill at breakfast and half a pill at dinner. When I went to see my OB/Gyn he wrote me a prescription to start taking 1000mg a day of the ER pills. I just assumed I would still take it twice a day, but now I'm not so sure. The bottle instructions just say to take 2 tablets daily. If you take the ER pills how do you take them?

I take Metformin ER also. I take two with breakfast and two at dinner. If you have to take two a day, I would think you would take one at breakfast and one at dinner. However, I have read about women who take them totally different than I do. Perhps you should call your doctor and confirm.

I just got prescribed Metformin ER today, one a day for a week, then 2, then 3. I wanted to mention mine say not to split or break the pills at all, so you might want to confirm about that.
