Question Is Metformin ER same as Gluc XR?

HI Ladies.

I just started what I thought was Glucophage XR on Tuesday. Today I was looking at the bottle and it said Metformin ER .

I'm confused because I thought there was no generic for GlucoXR..and this said..A substitute for GlucXR.

If Met ER is a generic for Gluc XR...are there any differences at all?

Thanks for any input you can give...BethT.

The active drug is the same, the fillers may be different. The Met XR was just made available recently, and many have switched over to it. It is a lot cheaper!

Every medicine has active and inactive ingredients. The active ingredients is the actual medicine, and the inactive ingredients (fillers and binders) are what holds it all together. That's not a scientific explanation, sorry!
