I've been realllllly tired on it....and I don't even remember when I first went on it, at least 8 months ago probably. It hasn't gotten any better for me....but when I take my multivitamins I notice a big difference.

I got really tired on met too. To the point where I wouldn't be able to stay awake in the middle of the day. I had to take a nap. Some days it was almost like passing out. I tried taking it two different times, each for about 6 months. Same problem. It didn't seem to matter when I took it, either.

Try taking a B-Complex vitamin in the a.m. Not quite sure which one, but met is known to cause a b vitamin deficency. Helps alot with the fatigue.

It might be low blood sugar. I wasn't eating as much food as usual last May, and I was tired for like an entire week. I've found that I can't just "nibble" on Met., as I get dizzy and tired.

I have only been on it a few days and I feel really tired, BUT I am not sure if it is Met or the fact I cut out sugar and diet soda. I am hoping it will go away. I can barely focus at work!!

I would second the b-complex supplementation. Met is known to deplete b12 (I think).

I say take a B-complex also. That is what I did and boy did it make things better. Also that is just one of the things that met does to some people. I say take the largest dose of met in the evening and the smaller dose in the am. Something else that might help is changing to ER met.

I'll have to agree. I started with a B complex vitamin and the fatigue has gone away. Also, switching to ER really helped with the GI problems and hair loss that I was having. You may want to try that.

Would you suggest just B12 or a complex?

Always do a B complex, the different B's work together for better absorbtion.

I started met about 10 days ago and felt incredibly tired when I upped the dose to 1000mg. I also worked out that having only a couple of sips of wine made this tiredness unbearable. which led me to believe it has something to do with blood sugars. I am not feeling the same degree of tiredness anymore - maybe partly due to getting used to the dose, but I am also making sure I am having a proper sized meal, rather than a smallish one that I was used to having before. It seems to be helping!

By the way, I've been on B complex for months now, but was still getting the extreme tiredness even with it.... as I said, I would guess it is to do with blood sugars, but I couldn't find anything decent to back me up on this when I looked.

I'm having a similar problem. I just upped my Metformin dosage from 1000mg to 1500mg on Sunday and I am feeling exhausted and completly worn out. Actually, at work I've been having a difficult time concentrating and staying alert. I had just started feeling better and with more energy because I also have hypothyroidism which makes me tired all of the time and since I started on the meds for that I was feeling better. Now this.

A week ago I started a Low G.I diet which is somewhat helping, but my sugar has gotten very low twice this week. I have drastically dropped my sugar and carb intake so I think this isn't helping that. I may need to alter my diet and get some more food in me in order to sustain adequate levels and gain more energy.

I like the suggestions of adding a complex B vitamin. I'm already taking a Prenatal vitamin, so does anyone know if taking an additional B vitamin would be harmful/helpfull/ect?

How are you feeling now?
