Don't be too hard on yourself! You have to keep height in mind, too. I'm only 5'1.

Sorry it's been so long in replying--was talking to someone else about Met and realized I hadn't replied here. Oops!

Anyways:

-Tried going off the Met for one week, but flushing did not improve. Frequency/intensity of flushing episodes stayed the same, the only thing that changed was that my insulin/blood sugar went back to being crazy for a while.

-Decided just to quit the BCP completely. I only found 2 alternatives that were ever tolerable for me: Yasmin and Zovia (and I went through TONS...). Yasmin seemed to hurt my skin more than help the last 2 years I was on it, Zovia improved my skin eventually but also made my weight start creeping up. So I threw my hands in the air and stopped all of it. I do have to say--the intense purplish-red color on my cheeks improved significantly shortly after stopping the Yasmin. And I have less "acne". Though I still get itchy "papules" across my cheeks when I have a flare.

However, the rosacea is still a problem. I guess it really is rosacea, and not something else. Redness/flushing episodes, itchy papules where the redness is most intense, swelling...seems pretty cut and dry now And yes--I agree--when my cheeks get hot/red, I do feel like my whole body is hotter, not just my face. I just don't know whether it's just "one" thing, as opposed to some combo of hormones/met/other triggers. Currently using a combination of topical AB's and oral AB's, with decent success. Am now debating whether to pursue IPL treatment.

Hope this helps...
