My Mood: Points: 4,263.74 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,263.74 | Metformin and fertility I am now taking 2000 mg of Met and stopped taking Spiro a while back. After taking the new dosage of Met for a week and a half, I got AF on my own for the first time in almost a year! I was never so happy to have a heavy period in all my life! I am now CD7 and wondering if it might be worth it to use an OPK to see if I might ovulate. I know women with PCOS can get false LH surges, but since mine is now under control I wonder if I might get real results? I wanted to try Clomid but my endo feels strongly that the Met will help me ovulate.

I can't tell you about the OPK, they have been garbage for me, but why don't you check your cervical mucous, and possibly your BBT? Between the 3 techniques, i think you would be rather certain if you ovulated this cycle. Congrats on your AF, I am on CD18 and I can't wait to get a AF on my own!

Some people like me get all caught up in using them and stressing over them. But since I cant temp and it did work for me the last cycle that is what I used. I would stress more over temping if I could though.
Congrats and good luck. |

My Mood: Points: 15,860.21 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 15,860.21 | i would definitely use a opk and see what it reads. Like the pp said if its neg at first then you can be more sure of getting an accurate reading as you approach O.
I have been on Met for a like a month and a half. I ovulated (positive OPK) and actually got a BFP last week! I hadn't even got a natural AF from Met since my induced on late april.
Good Luck to you!

So, I started charting not only my cervical mucus..but more importantly (since i BARELY get any EWCM) my cervical position and "texture". I was 99% sure I Oed from my cervix but still hadn't gotten AF on my own with my weight loss and met and was getting REALLY discouraged. Woke up this morning and i was spotting!! my first non-induced AF in YEARS!! i'm so stoked. I wish you luck! Getting you AF on your own is a VERY good step in the right direction, IMO.
Curly Chica--congrats on you BFP~
