My Mood: Points: 3,083.42 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,083.42 | What time do you take the B12? The same time as the Metformin??
Oh dear! I stopped Metformin but the thing is my hair is thinning anyway. It won't stop. It'll stop shedding as much but it will become finer anyway.
I found this recipe on the net: 1 tbsp warm olive oil, 1 tbsp honey and 1 tsp cinammon powder. It helps the hair. Just apply it for 20 minutes before shampooing. Try Nizoral Shampoo or the Head and Shoulders Selenium Sulfide. I don't know if going off Met is the right answer because I am honestly considering going back on it. Maybe a dosage reduction would help. But don't do anything before talking to your doctor. Don't take matters in your own hands. Because you don't know what's going on inside your body. Ask your doctor if you could switch to exercise and diet control.
Also I'm guessing you have enough Iron in the GNC tablets but Iron is important.
Maybe we should speak to our doctors about getting our homocysteine levels checked. |

Are you a vegetarian? Because that would mean you're not getting any B 12 in your diet. The sublingual drops may help. Let me know where you get those. Also, do you have enough Iodine in your diet? I just realised we have non-Iodised salt and I've heard Metformin affects your thyroid somehow. Those of us with PCOS are already predisposed to becoming hypothyroid so this drug may be triggering hair loss in those of us bordering on or going towards hypothyroidism. Just some random ideas I'm throwing up in the air. I'd love to hear other cyster's views on the matter. |

I switched to ER in March of this year, added some vitamin supplements and things are much better. You all might try ER with a B complex vitamin. Hopefully it works for all of you! |

I have taken Saw Palmetto in the past for my hair, and it really had helped me. It grew grew a little thicker, and I lost much less of it during the time that I was taking it. I am considering trying that again. |

My Mood: Points: 308.54 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 308.54 | I actually had hair fall BEFORE met, due to PCOS still, I am enrolled in a program called Regenix based out here in Los Angeles. It has helped my hair BIG TIME! Good luck. It's such a hard thing to deal with.

Unfortunately I'm here in the North-East. I'm wondering if I should try Nioxin. I'm afraid it'll make my scalp greasy. Frequent washing with Head and Shoulders should do.
How're you doing Indianchick? I'd definitely recommend the sublingual B12. It gave me a sudden burst of energy I didn't know I didn't have. I'm a vegetarian so I need extra doses of Iron too. I think my hair loss may have to do with anemia too. Think I was completely nutritionally depleted and that's why my body couldn't handle the malabsorption Met caused. I'm going to strengthen my body nutritionally with the right foods and work out and see if I need the Met after that.
Good luck! What do they do in Regenix? |

Points: 2,799.42 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,799.42 | I've been OFF metformin for about 2 weeks now, and have continued all the vitamins. My hair loss seemed to be getting better at first, but has been TERRIBLE for the past few days (lots of shedding in the shower and all day long). It is really scary and disheartening :-(
Maybe my body is still processing the Met out????
How have you guys been doing with the Met and hair issues? |
