I am brand new to the whole PCOS thing, so naturally, after reading all the horrible side effects of Metformin, I was very nervous to take it. I just wanted to let everyone know how I got onto Metformin without having any side effects, in hopes it eases someone else's fear or helps in some way!!
I was prescribed 500mg 2xd. I started with half a pill, twice a day. I did this for 2 days. When it was pill time, I would take about 5-6 bites of food, then take my pill with a full glass of water, and finish my meal.
After 2 days, I did the whole pill and still did the 5-6 bites of food, full glass of water and then finish my meal.
I have not had any symptoms, no nausea. I feel fine!
I am on the same dosage, but i've read that 1500 to 2000 mg is the only way to see results, so I take 1 whole and a half at brunch/snack, 11am - 1pm, with full glass of water(750mg), then another 750mg at bedtime,9pm-11pm.
I also take a one a day mulitvitamin and flax seed.
This regimen is totally new. I've been on metformin on and off for maybe 2 yrs, but I never follow through because it took too long to work. I have maybe 2 or 3 bottles in my cabinet so I've decided to use them before they expire. I still have 7 refills at the pharmacy. I am going to up my dose by 500mg. and then another by December. I will be 30 in February and would love t at least have my menustrations regulated or at least coming more frequently.
