Default Metformin + Hormones

I really didn't know where to shove this topic so I thought I would put it here. It's almost 4 weeks since I started Met, having been on 500mg for 8 days, 1000mg for just over 3 weeks and upto 1500mg yesterday.

I got to the point where thinking I didn't have hormones having not seen AF since June 2005!

Did anyone else experience totally hormone changes... for the past week I can't stop thinking about babies, being pregnant, men, sex! and I've even found myself going ga ga over people in work talking about there up and coming weddings.....

I always thought I was not into the thought of weddings, babies etc... but now it's all I can think of... could it be a sign that the Metformin is actually doing something to my hormones...

Stranger things have happened.

Remember something...this med affects us all differently and it is meant to regulate insulin. Insulin IS a hormone and a major one that affects the way all of our other hormones function. There is a really definite relationship between insulin and male/female hormones, so it stands to reason that your hormones are moving around finding the right 'symphony' for your body.

Hope it helps.

I definitely noticed hormonal-type changes once I reached the 1500 mark with Metformin. For the first time in *many* years I felt aroused for no reason at all--just all of a sudden one day my body woke up from a long sleep. ;-) That day I also felt like I was ovulating for the first time in a long time, too. I also now get PMS and my migraines seem to come with the PMS instead of randomly throughout the month.

I think Metformin (coupled with the IR died) has changed my life for the better.

Love,
