It wasn't until I went up to 3 times a day that they started. I never had the upset stomach or anything. Should I have stayed on the meds? Should I try it again and just try to stick it out?? Are their any other meds similar that might not have that effect on me that I can ask the doc about??? I go to the endocrinologist in a few weeks...any input would help. I just want control of my body for once!!! AND BABIES OFCOURSE!! |

If the 2 doses per day were having results for you, maybe the dr. would have you try that for awhile? I got headaches (migraines) after my PCOS diagnosis, but they turned out to be from my BCP and when I switched to a different BCP, they have gotten better. (I still get some occasionally, mostly during my period). I have heard of people getting fatigued from met. When I started taking prozac for my depression my fatigue got a lot better. I don't know if you have depression or take any other meds, but that was my experience! I have always taken met, but I know of a few cysters who have taken Avandia if met gave them side effects. I hope your appt. goes well and good luck with ttc! You're welcome to email me or pm me if you want to talk.

I have read that many have stayed for longer periods of time on the dose they could handle before increasing it. You may want to get back to where you were and keep it that way for a few months before increasing your dosage. Did you notice any changes while on that dose? I noticed all kinds of positive changes on 1 pill daily after just over a week.
My understanding is that there are a few options but I don't remember what they are. There is Met XR or maybe it's glucophage XR that many like better. Hopefully, some women on here with more knowledge will answer. You can also do a search on here under Met and you will find the same question several times. It's a big topic. Also, look under the Metformin section here and scroll through for lots of information.
Obviously, you should discuss this with your doctor but I think going in with information can be helpful. Good luck.

I am new here and had too many side effects with metformin and my docter started me on Fortamet - which I believe is a brand name and longer acting. (gee- I really need to look into this more too!) I have had better luck with this medication and less symptoms on it but its of course more expensive! |

I just started Met a few days ago. Ever since the first dose, I've had a headache (sometimes dizzy). I also get a stomach ache. I've been tired, too, but I take it at night.

Well, actually, I had fatigue problems right off the bat. I've been on the full dosage for about 6 months, and I don't have those problems anymore. I know the headaches only lasted about a week.
